How to Spot the Cheapest Invisalign Provider

I am quite a known 'bargain hunting queen' amongst my friends. When I want to buy something, I compare, compare and compare! Just like Invisalign, I compared between a lot of websites, all the offers and dentist credentials before making the decision.

London, perhaps, just perhaps, is the cheapest place to get your Invisalign treatment done. Many people have asked me how much I paid for my Invisalign and their reaction tend to be slightly 'astonished' when they heard the figure: £1895. To be honest, with the economic downturn, you can find an even cheaper price than what I paid 6 months ago. And frankly, just within seconds using your finger tip by typing in 'Invisalign London' in the Google search.

There are a lot of practices that are doing special offers on Invisalign, especially in big cities like London, Birmingham and Leeds. However, London, by far, due to a huge number of dental practices across London and each one of them can be easily reached by the great London Underground System, price competition is far more fierce in this neck of the wood, hence the lower prices in comparison.

When searching for the cheapest Invisalign, it's not that straight forward.
Normally dental practices would advertise the lowest price but it would 'exclude' certain bits of the treatment in that price, like:
1) Retainer
2) X-Rays
3) Only apply to simple cases (that the patients don't need many trays)
4) Only 1 arch (either upper or lower arch) is included in the price.
5) 3D computerised treatment plans
6) Extraction (if necessary for your treatment)
7) 'Fine tuning' of teeth position after active treatment
8) First initial assessment

Dental practices would also give some additional 'gifts' to make the price comparison difficult. For example, the would include:
1) Teeth Whitening -either home kit or 1 hour power whitening
2) Teeth polishing and stain removal at end of treatment
3) 0% Finance
4) Aftercare for one year

It'll really depends whether you value these additional services. From most recent dental research, teeth whitening home kit is a more effective (especially long term) whitening method than 1 hour teeth whitening. So I would recommend for all Invisalign users to use home kit whitening instead (especially you can use the Invisalign aligners as whitening trays!).

For 0% Finance, you can easily perform a DIY on this by getting a credit card with 0% on new purchases for the first 6 or 9 months (Halifax/Virgins are doing great deals on this!)

I hope this helps... and good luck with the search for the cheapest Invisalign around! :)

  1. Hi! Love your blog! I'm in the process of getting invisalign. I had been emailing a few queries to my dentist, who took over 2 weeks to respond (!) - and only after I chased it up twice! Do you have the same problem at your clinic? Just a concern if I had to experience any problem wearing invisalign and not be able to get any assistance for weeks!! Thanks!

  2. Where are you based?
I called up my dental clinic and they booked me in straight away for a free consultation! :)

  3. I am based in London too. Oh, the free consultation was not a problem! But I did have some questions later (after the impressions were taken)and they seemed to take forever to get back to me!

  4. I might as well add here that one of my questions was the risk of the root shortening during and after treatment - I'm not too keen on getting the teeth straightened when soon after they all fall out! Was this a concern to you too or something your dentist mentioned? Oh yes, do let me know how your clinic is communication wise too! Thanks!

  5. I know I waited for 3 weeks before I could see the 3D before/after animation. The clinic that I went to has been quite efficient. The receptionist knows pretty much everything about Invisalign so when I do call, she could answer all my queries. The dentist is quite occupied with the patients though, so it's good that they have a knowledgeable receptionist. :)

  6. Aaah, yes, I probably should have asked her first instead of heading straight for the dentist!

  8. No idea! But Invisalign worked out to be around the same price as Inman Aligner.. I only paid £1895 for my invisalign treatment. I think Inman Aligner is roughly that too.

  9. Thanks for sharing your advice on how to find affordable Invisalign providers. This will help out those bargain hunters.

  10. Hi there from the continent - Germany namely!
Your article helped me to put things into better perspective cost wise.

Just the gist of what I was able to make out:
    (1895 £ are 2180 € today)

My treatment will cost me 5000€ (4350£)
I need about 20 braces altogether (upper and lower jaw) and the fixed retainer which is designed to last a decade is included.
So that seems to be in the same ballpark.

Interestingly, core Invisalign costs are projected with 2400€ (2000£)
and the docs pay (including permanent retainer)
are going to be around 2600€ (2260£)

The '5000' Number I googled also seemed to pop up a lot only with a '$' behind it in the US.
Chances are that the 5K is an arbitrary number. At least that is my suspicion.
A dentist I know told me that the Orthodontist community is comparatively small* and they all know each other and that they pretty much would all charge the same.(A totally off the record statement, naturally)

My bottom line (at least for me) is that since the invisalign program requires frequent doc-visits it must be done locally - flying to the US or the UK is not really an option in terms of cost reduction.
Also I must admit that the doctor I initially contacted has a really solid reputation around here and lots of experience - not a quack at all and since I understand that there actually are botched invisalign procedures I will probably go ahead with this 'seasoned pro'.

I guess I'm just not that "Let's-have-my-eyes-lasered-in-Turkey-cause-it's-cheap" type of guy

*(You have to be an oral surgeon first and the qualification of Orthodontist comes on top of that - at least around here in .de)

  15. I want both arches doing. Mine is a very mild case as I wore fixed braces for two years when I was younger, my teeth have just relapsed very slightly. I was told the treatment would take 6 months to complete and would wear a retainer at night thereafter. So far the best quote I have had is £2510 for both arches at Ultrasmile in London but am desperately trying to get the treatment done for under £2000. Did you pay £1895 for both arches doing?? where was this at?? Please help...
    Thanks
    Andy

Would it possible for you to tell me where you got it done? x

  19. No, I don't work for the clinic that I've got my Invisalign done.

They're one of the cheapest invisalign providers on Harley Street, on 139 Harley Street.

I don't want to name them on my blog, but I think you should be able to find them based on the above information. :)

  20. An Orthodonist in Beckenham Kent have quoted £3,700 to align a slightly out of line bottom tooth and to push forward my front upper teeth slightly to realign the next tooth. 22 trays over 15 months. I'm stil mulling over whether to have it done or not. Don't want to travel to London if possible as I'm based in Kent.
